40 Lambs in a Few Days
This is what happens when you have over 40 lambs in a few days. Glad we’re nearing the end but we’re tired. Completely different than last year where lambing stretched out over a month and half. We should be all wrapped up soon and then it all starts again in the end of April with the yearlings.
Lots of New Lambs
Lots of new littles on the farm. They like to come when it’s super cold. We have one ram lamb and a whole lot of ewe lambs. We’ll try to do some introductions but they’ll be coming fast and furious over the next week.
Lambing Season 2025
First lamb of the season arrived on this most chilly January morning. Lupin had a big beautiful ewe lamb.
Happy New Year!!
Happy New Year from our flock to yours. Finally got the barn addition far enough along to move the sheep in. They’re excited to start a new year in the new barn. Lambing prep has begun and we should have lambs arriving before we know it.
Fall Grazing
Fall is upon us, but the sheep still have plenty of fresh grass. These ewe lambs will join our breeding ewes soon. Our last freezer lambs left yesterday so we will have stock through the winter for anyone who wants lamb for dinner.
Mustangs on the Farm
Many of you may not know that we have several Mustangs on our farm. Amelia adopts wild Mustangs and helps them transition into domestic life. She just got home from Maryland with Feather who was a clients horse and her personal horse Atles who’s featured below.

Nice way to start the day. Wellington has been Busy and we will be busy in February.
Fall Shearing
The shearer came to give everyone a fall haircut. It makes it easier to see how everyone is doing going into and throughout the winter as well as making lambing a little easier for everyone. We tried to get some pictures of the ewe lambs , but they seemed to think group pictures weren’t what we should be doing, so instead, here are some up close and personal Shots
Come Say Hello
It’s time for the market again. We’ve been busy so you haven’t heard from us much. Come to the market at Saskadena Six and catch up. Josie will be there keeping an eye on the lamb and would love to see you.
4th of July Surprise
Our 4th of July surprise was an adorable big buckling from Juniper. He’s twice as big as his triplet friends and his mom is taking great care of him.
Welcome the New Baby Goats
Amelia’s Nigerian Dwarf goat Redwood had triplets this morning. They are so tiny and adorable. She had 2 girls and a boy. 1 girl and one boy will be looking for homes in a few months when they’re weaned.
More Scottish Blackface
More Scottish Blackface on the farm. Welcome Chanel, Dior, and our new ram Louis Vuitton (he said no face pictures, he’s loving the hay). Can’t wait till we have some lambs of our own next year.
Josie the Market Dog
This is how Josie feels about Market mornings and rainy afternoons in the shop fixing things. She doesn’t understand why we can’t herd sheep in the rain.
New Friends
It’s been super busy here. Rain has made haying challenging, but still busy moving fences and sheep, gardening, etc… But we got away from the farm to pick up some new additions. Welcome Harlow, or new ram, and Lauretta, or first ewe lamb with new genetics sine we started or Texel flock. These beauties came from Hilltop Acres Farm in NY and we couldn’t be happier. Lauretta isn’t too fond of Josie, but they are both fond of humans and settling into their new home.
Saskadena Farmers Market
If you and your friends are looking for something to do, come down to the Mt. Tom Farmers Market at Saskadena Six. So many Great venders with all kinds of goodies. We’ll be there with fresh chicken, Rhubarb, Pottery by Endine, and new this week Lamb. We hope to see you there to support local agriculture.
Farmers Market
We’ll be at the Mt. Tom Farmers Market tomorrow at Saskadena Six. We’ll have homegrown fresh chicken and rhubarb. Soon we’ll have our own lamb raised right here on pastures in South Pomfret. 2024 First Cut
That’s a wrap folks. With the exception of one small field, 2024 first cut is done!! Woohoo!
Surprise Part II
Surprise has grown leaps and bounds over the last couple of weeks. She had no problem keeping up with the big lambs and likes to play queen of the rock.
