Busy Busy
We had a busy day but I didn’t get a lot of good photos. We had the shearer come and 3 more lambs. Not sure why these yearlings are sick of carrying babies around so they’re coming early. Whether we are ready or not. Anyway here are a couple pictures of Maude and Jupiter that Amelia took while she was helping out.
Little Anise
Welcome to the world Anise. We were expecting to kick off our second group of lambers around the 21st but arrived to the barn to find that Elise had a little ram lamb with her. So I guess he couldn’t wait and decided to pop out early. So with that we’ve started our second group with a nice healthy ram lamb delivered on all his own.
Ice Storm and Sugaring
It’s been an interesting sugaring season on the farm thus far. We had an ice storm over the weekend, it warmed up enough today to thaw things out and make it safe enough to venture into the woods to make some necessary repairs. While there is more to do we have fixed the leaks enough to get us through the season.
Did you know Josie loves to help with all farm chores, while the trees don’t need herding she is great moral support!
Look at Them Grow
The lambs grow so quickly. They are at the age where they like the fresh hay in the morning as much as the ewes.
Jupiter and Maude
Lamb spam is lacking as we got the norovirus. While Amelia evaded it, John and Endine got it for a day or so, but I ended up in the ER and am still recovering. Long story short you get Jupiter and Maude. They’re still cute, and they’re becoming quite cuddly. They’re also sometimes a little rowdy while they await some spring grass to go out on pasture. Amelia may be sharing some videos of Maude @hdstangs as she’s considering a new kind of mount to add to her Mustang menagerie.
Look at This Fellow
Oh Snap, check out this little guy. He’s very fond of his rubs and attention. He has a lot of wrinkles from his dad but also quite the rump and chest too. Snap is one nice little ram lamb.
Fresh Straw
Fresh straw in the lamb pen means too many lambs to take individual pictures. So it’s a group photo for too many lambs tuesday.
Welcome to the Farm
Welcome Maude and Jupiter to Runamuck Farm. Our first cattle on the farm and we’re so excited. They’ll help with pasture and parasite management for the sheep. They’re also really cute.
The Best Sleeping Spot
Some babies take advantage of all the good sleeping spots, even if they aren’t their mamas. Duo(the ewe) loves her babies, they’re always snuggling and today Pnina took advantage of her back as a soft fluffy sleeping spots.
One More to Go
Nearing the end of our first group of ewes. Only one more to go. Most adorable set of Texel x Scottish Blackface twin lambs. Was hiping they would have more color but they’re so fluffy and cute. It’s so interesting to observe the difference in breeds characteristics. Scottish Blackface colostrum is like a thick yellow custard in comparison to Texel colostrum. They grow slower than the Texels but are thrifty, agile and efficient. Excited to see how these lambs grow.
Warming Box
This is our makeshift warming box as our main barn is unfinished and unheated and our lambing section that is a little more protected from the wind and cold is overfull. Lavender is soaking up the most warmth but it gives everyone a protected space to snuggle and warm up. Soon they’ll have a bigger place in the lambing barn as this isn’t everyone and it’s pretty full.
40 Lambs in a Few Days
This is what happens when you have over 40 lambs in a few days. Glad we’re nearing the end but we’re tired. Completely different than last year where lambing stretched out over a month and half. We should be all wrapped up soon and then it all starts again in the end of April with the yearlings.
Lots of New Lambs
Lots of new littles on the farm. They like to come when it’s super cold. We have one ram lamb and a whole lot of ewe lambs. We’ll try to do some introductions but they’ll be coming fast and furious over the next week.
Lambing Season 2025
First lamb of the season arrived on this most chilly January morning. Lupin had a big beautiful ewe lamb.
Happy New Year!!
Happy New Year from our flock to yours. Finally got the barn addition far enough along to move the sheep in. They’re excited to start a new year in the new barn. Lambing prep has begun and we should have lambs arriving before we know it.
Fall Grazing
Fall is upon us, but the sheep still have plenty of fresh grass. These ewe lambs will join our breeding ewes soon. Our last freezer lambs left yesterday so we will have stock through the winter for anyone who wants lamb for dinner.
Mustangs on the Farm
Many of you may not know that we have several Mustangs on our farm. Amelia adopts wild Mustangs and helps them transition into domestic life. She just got home from Maryland with Feather who was a clients horse and her personal horse Atles who’s featured below.

Fall Shearing
The shearer came to give everyone a fall haircut. It makes it easier to see how everyone is doing going into and throughout the winter as well as making lambing a little easier for everyone.
